Frédéric Sauvadet teaches permaculture in Fondwa
For three months in the winter of 2025, Frédéric Sauvadet of Bec Hellouin permaculture farm in France came to the University of Fondwa to collaborate with agronomy students and farmers on microfarms.
Microfarms are family-sized plots that produce a diversity of resilient crops using only local materials: ideal for Fondwa as fertilizers, fossil fuels, and other inputs are not available.
Together, they learned about regenerative agriculture in Haiti, assessed the potential for Microfarms to increase food security in Haiti, and established two demonstration plots at the university.
